One of the vehicles in a chain-reaction crash that killed a 34-year-old Stow man Thursday may not have had working brake lights, according to a crash report filed by Dayton police.

Kevin M. Brendle was driving a 2025 Ford cargo van that was slowing in traffic on Interstate 75 North near U.S. 35 in Dayton when a semi truck hit the van, pushing it into two other vehicles and a concrete median.

Brendle was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office. No other injuries were reported.
